About

I'm a 29-year-old photographer from South Africa, now based in Switzerland. My journey with photography started during my recent travels, where I found myself surrounded by incredible natural beauty but only had my phone to capture it. I quickly realized I wanted something more—something that could truly do justice to the scenes before me. My passion for photography, however, traces back to my early years, largely influenced by my dad, who has always been an avid photographer. Watching him capture moments over the years sparked my own interest, and I’ve learned a great deal from him.

So far, I’m self-taught, but I’ve also gained a lot of knowledge by following incredible photographers like Simon d'Entremont, whose work continues to inspire and teach me.

In terms of style, I gravitate towards dramatic and natural shots, capturing moments as they happen rather than planning them in advance. While I aspire to rise early for the morning sun or stay out late for those stunning sunset shots, most of my work is spontaneous, driven by the moment and the environment around me.

I currently shoot with a Canon R10 paired with an 18-150mm kit lens, which has been fantastic for capturing a range of scenes. Before this, I used an EOS M with a 55-200mm lens. While my gear has served me well, I’m eager to expand my lens collection to further enhance my capabilities. I prefer shooting without flash, relying on natural light as much as possible. I’ve dabbled in long exposure photography and occasionally use ND filters, though I’m still refining my technique in this area.

Being based in Switzerland provides me with an abundance of breathtaking nature to explore. However, finding wildlife in the mountains can be challenging due to the number of tourists. I often pick a location, take my camera, and see what I can discover. It’s always an adventure, especially when I come across animals I’m unfamiliar with, which leads to exciting research later as I edit in Lightroom. Although I don’t have a favourite location yet, I’m eager to explore the natural beauty of Norway and Finland in the future.
